T Thoughts

I went to bed early last night, so I could rise early this morning to park at the van dorn metro.  The small parking lot fills up before 7am.  I was in my office at 7:30am!

Busy busy busy day –  a lot of random projects are moving ahead full speed.  I had rice for lunch with some fries and 2 Lance Toasty crackers w/peanut butter.

Commute home: blue line turned into a yellow line at DCA.  Sat at DCA in 95 degree heat & humidity – ugh!

Dinner: rice and an egg roll.  I heart rice!

Everyone needs to start watching Lie to Me on Fox!

I got the new Little Big Town CD last Tuesday! I love this group!  Sara Bareilles’ new cd will be in my hands in 7 days!  Zac Brown Band’s new one 2 weeks after that, and Kings of Leon’s CD in October, Lee Dewyze’s CD in November.  So exciting!

Pizza bagel!

I haven’t’ gone grocery shopping for a month! So I finally got to go to the farmer’s market and grocery store. What $88 of groceries and some farmers market goodies look like:

I first tried Verdi in Charlotte, my neighbor introduced me to it. At a recent trip to 7-11, I saw a raspberry version that I had to try. It is delicious!

DefCon 18 was awesome! Super cool badge! Hacking ATMs & Droid phones, cell phone spying & UAV video demos.

The Wynn hotel is amazing! Your room key has your name on it! The room has a huge tv and a framed tv in the bathroom. My favorite part- automatic curtains with a press of a button!

We ate amazing food. A buffet at Treasure Island on Friday night. A steak feast at Steakhouse46 at the Flamingo on Saturday night. Sunday, lunch at Wolfgang Puck’s Postrio Bar & Grill at the Venetian.

The weather was horribly hot, in the 100s, not sure why they choose July for DefCon. DefCon 19 will be at a new location: The Rio Hotel & Casino.

• 1500 pouring rain & thunderstorms
• 1730 drive in rush hour traffic to Colombia, MD
• 1845 arrive at venue, buy t-shirt & burgers
• 1900 Fran Healy of Travis
• 2000 Ingrid Michaelson!!!
• 2115 Keane
• 2230 drive home
• 0100 on a work night=Priceless!

So while in Las Vegas, I continued to beep everywhere I went in the mall. So with the help of Yu Pok, I took one item out of my bag at a time and walked past the security “gates”. It was my wallet. So while at lunch – I searched everywhere in my wallet and found the 2nd culprit. Now I think I can finally breathe again! FREEDOM! I dislike Coach for hiding the stupid security tags!

Saturday-July 24

I flew standby on US Airways operated by Republic Air at 0800.  I slept the entire 2 hour flight.  I landed in MSY at 0940 local time.  Emily arrived with perfect timing in her blue toyota camry rental.  We drove  to her hotel in Belle Chasse to drop off my bags.  Then we scooted back to New Orleans, first making a stop at Starbucks.  We took pictures by the waterfront. Then we walked to the Hilton to eat at Dragos.   Emily made me try Char broiled Oysters - not for me.  We shared Spinach Dip and a Seafood Alfredo Pasta dish! Delicious!  Next, we shopped until we dropped in the French Quarter in 100 degree weather.  We stopped midway and had beignets at Cafe Du Monde.  Yum!  We left New Orleans and ran to Best Buy to pick up anti-virus software.  Then we ate a sushi feast at Big Tuna!

Sunday-July 25

Starbucks stop! Another 100 degree weather day. Shopping, Original Louisiana Pizza for lunch, more shopping, then we went to two book stores and ate dinner at Shoguns Hibachi Grill – Emily had scallops and I had steak.  We watched Leverage and the season 4 premiere of My Boys =)

Monday-July 26

Emily drove me to the airport at 0530.  I slept the entire flight again on US Airways operated by Republic Air.  I got home just before noon.  Ares had a surprise waiting for me – puke upstairs in the bedroom.  Not cool.
