- Where I Stood
Susann held my hand as I got my first pedicure today. On another side note, we have had some crazy thunderstorms this month.
Sam and I put in our 60 day vacate notice. The search is on for a new apartment.
Hello! June has flown by! Finally after 3.5 years of my allergies continually getting worse - I went in for an allergy test. As a child, I remember getting plates of needles lightly placed on your back and than 15 or so light needle pricks/shots into your forearm. As adults, this does not happen. The plates went into my left arm. Afterwards I received over 20 SHOTS into my right arm. I swear my lady was new - for the needle and pumping the antigens into my arm was not pleasant. After she left, I swear I almost fainted. And of course, my luck, she had to do some over because the antigens she gave me were not strong enough - so another 15 shots into my right arm! The results: I am allergic to one type of mold, dust mites, and every pollen they gave me. Ick! So I am taking daily drops for my body to build an immunity to the allergies.
I attended two weddings this month. The first one was my dear friend Courtney whom I have known since we were babies. Her wedding was in Wisconsin on the 14th. I flew into MKE and my dear father picked me up from Algoma. I stayed with my brother's family - got to hang out with my neices. I drove with my parents to Wisconsin Rapids where we drove by our old house and had lunch with neighbors. The wedding was beautful! We drove to MSP, we had brunch with relatives. My other brother was evacuated from Iowa - due to the flooding, so he was on his way to our parents house. I went shopping at the Mall of American and then met Sam at the airport around 6:30pm. We spent the evening with his family. We were lucky to make it home on Monday on full flights.
Wedding number two was my friend Meredith. Her wedding was in Virginia on the 21st. She had a beautiful outside wedding. I tried to take many pictures :)
But I ain't got a heart for breakin'
So go and pick your bags up off my floor
Cuz love don't live here anymore
First things first, let the countdown begin: there is going to be a Transformers 2!!
Let's see...the past 13 days: (1) I traveled to Iowa to visit my brother and attend his graduation from the Iowa Writer's Workshop. An analogy for me to brag about my bro: Iowa Writer's Workshop is to writers as MIT is to IT people. (2) Been getting over my semi-annual - never fails - allergy/cold attack.
Some movie reviews: Indiana Jones (OK, funny parts, fan of Shia). Made of Honor (Funny, predictable ending)
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days
hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
so take a good look around
You may not know it now
You're gonna miss this
It rained all weekend - pretty much non-stop with some sunlight on Saturday evening. Sam and I took a walk on the paths in the Overlook townhouse community. Everytime we walk the paths I hope to see a deer, we finally saw a doe - about 30 feet from the path - just minding her own business - she did not run - even when people walked by with barking dogs. It was very cool to be so close.
My bro, Jim was in DC for a visit, we met up in Chinatown - ate at Clyde's and went and saw Iron Man. My review: pretty good movie. Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow did a great job. I laughed out loud quite often.
My loyality to American Idol has left the building - no more voting and no more watching. Everyone should watch Greek! Hilarious! Season Finale of Brothers & Sisters was great!
And the children drank lemonade
And the morning lasted all day,
All day
And through an open window came
Like Sinatra in a younger day,
Pushing the town away
away

P.S. Wii Mario Kart rulz!
My BF Lisa was here. We were touring maniacs! Rain did not stop us. We dedicated an entire day to monuments and ended up walking for 15 hours. Our feet paid the price.
Music: I love Sugarland's Life in a Northern Town with Little Big Town and Jake Owens. I am also in love with Lady Antebellum's debut album!
that I've burned along the way
have left me with these walls
and these scars that won't go away
And opening up has always been
the hardest thing, until you came
Chorus: So lay here
beside me
just hold me
and don't let go
This feeling
I'm feeling
is something
I've never known
And I just can't take my eyes off you
And I just can't take my eyes off you
I love when you tell me
that I'm pretty when I just wake up
And I love how you tease me
when I'm moody, but it's never too much
I'm falling fast, but the truth is
that I'm not scared at all
You climbed my walls

Hi. This is turning into a "once a week" blog. I love music - a little getaway for me. The lyrics that these artists write are amazing! I have discovered another band: Grace Potter and the Nocturnals - check them out.
I'm trying to get back into the practicing guitar mode. I'm currently working on two songs - Battle by Colbie Calliat and Whiskey Lullaby by Brad Paisely and Alison Krause. Chords are frusterating - I am finally getting the hang of G, I think I will always have a problem with C. I need to take a music or guitar 101 course, to understand the notes and chords and why you can't strum certain strings for certain chords.
Cherry Blossoms are here! Not sure when Sam and I will be able to take our annual walk around the tidal basin. If and when it happens, I will post pictures.
How love stays with me
You know it hurts me
Cause I don't wanna fight this war
It's amazing to see me reading through this scene
Of love and fear and apologies
First, I must express my love for the mac & cheese at Noodles & Co. An amazing dish that I crave once a week.
I finally finished Season 1 of Friday Night Lights, and to my surprise nbc.com has both seasons online to watch. A great addiction! I really hope the show comes back! I am glad the primetime shows are making an April comeback!
I have been attending a Cardio Kickboxing class after work on Thursdays. It's a great workout!
Finally, I have finished The Horse and His Boy in the Chronicles of Narnia series. My goal is to finish Prince Caspain before the movie comes out in May.
Very sad that UND lost to Denver in the final five. Alright, that's my random update :)
I forgot to tell you something
I forgot to clear the air
Forgot to apologize for nothing
I forgot that life's not fair
but I remember you swearing to me
I remember you never cried
I remember wanting to believe
But now I don't remember why
Today was spent sleeping in and relaxing. I finally left the apartment around 4pm to get some much needed groceries. I watched "Catch and Release"-great movie!
And I know all the facts
I'm still in love with who I wish you were
It ain't hard to see
Who you are underneath
I'm still in love with who I wish you were
And I wish you were here
Day 01: Sam & I flew US Airways direct from DCA to MCO - just a little over two hours. My parents met us outside security. We ate at a buffet for a late lunch. We checked into the Bonnet Creek resort - the place was beautiful. The resort had several pools (one with a slide), a cute river for tubing, hot tubs, a playground and mini golf. Emily arrived around 9pm. Troy and Marsha and the kids arrived at midnight (due to missing their original ORD connection.
Day 02: We spent the entire day by the pool. Morgan and I made Tye Dye t-shirts in the afternoon. We had a huge dinner with Tore and Lisbeth, relatives who were visiting from Sweden.
Day 03: Sea World-I enjoyed the dolphin feeding. The Dolphin show and Shamu show were great! My camera battery went low almost immediatly, sadly I forgot to bring my extra battery. We ended the day eating dinner with Shamu! They have a buffet restaurant right next to one of the aquariums behind the Shamu show.
Day 04: Magic Kingdom-first ride was "It's a small world". Sam and I split from the group as they went and had lunch with Cinderella in the castle. We ate at a cafe in tomorrowland. We went on most of the rides in that section. Space mountain was the craziest ride! We met up with Troy, Marsha, Morgan and Emily at Minnie's house. We went on a couple more rides (Haunted house, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc.). We ended with the Country Bear show. Just as the show began it started pouring outside. It continued to pour the rest of the night. Everyone bought rain parkas except Sam and I. We got drenched! This did not help my cold that began in the morning.
Day 05: We went shopping at downtown disney, had a treat at Ghirardelli's. We all took a nap in the afternoon. Then Dad and I went to the airport to pick up Jim.
Day 06: We went to Seaworld (they had a buy a day get a day free). We saw all the shows again and checked out some attractions we had missed on day 03, We rode rollercoaster, Kraken, twice. We got to feed the dolphins again!
Day 07: Troy, Marsha, Morgan, Brooke, Mom and Dad went to Animal Kingdom. Jim, Emily, Sam and I went to Epcot. We got there around 10am and stayed until 7pm. We went on every ride - the newest ride, "Soarin", was awesome. We toured every Country, going into almost every gift shop and eating along the way. Our feet were killing us by the end of the day. We ran after the last ride to try and catch the shuttle to the resort. We just missed it, we ended up catching a taxi. We tried to go to Hard Rock Cafe, the taxi driver did not really understand us, he ended up dropping us off at downtown Disney and there is no HRC. We ate at Planet Hollywood instead. For the record I am very disappointed in HRC for only having a restaurant inside a Disney theme park.
Day 08: Troy, Marsha and the kids were gone by 4am for their 6:45am flight. The rest of us left around 8:30am for the airport. Sam and I landed in DCA around 2pm. The week went by so fast! We had an amazing time! Thanks Mom and Dad!

Go Giants! I am happy the underdog won! Started Netflix - two at a time, started with "The Waitress" and "Gracie". Record high today - 60's. I am a new found fan of Missy Higgins.
you know you cannot keep
There's a time to play a king and a
time to be the thief
'Cause if you're making all these
promises you know you cannot keep
You know time will be the thief and
your fallen king will end up alone
Or if I like what I've begun
But something told me to run
And honey you know me it's all or none
There were sounds in my head
Little voices whispering
That I should go and this should end
Oh and I found myself listening
'Cos I don't know who I am, who I am without you
All I know is that I should
And I don't know if I could stand another hand upon you
All I know is that I should
'Cos she will love you more than I could
She who dares to stand where I stood
See I thought love was black and white
That it was wrong or it was right
But you ain't leaving without a fight
And I think I am just as torn inside
'Cos I don't know who I am, who I am without you
All I know is that I should
And I don't know if I could stand another hand upon you
All I know is that I should
'Cos she will love you more than I could
She who dares to stand where I stood
And I won't be far from where you are if ever you should call
You meant more to me than anyone I ever loved at all
But you taught me how to trust myself and so I say to you
This is what I have to do
'Cos I don't know who I am, who I am without you
All I know is that I should
And I don't know if I could stand another hand upon you
All I know is that I should
'Cos she will love you more than I could
She who dares to stand where I stood
Oh, she who dares to stand where I stood
Missy Higgins 2007.
I have discovered oatmeal all over again. I remember growing up, my dad made oatmeal over the stove. As a kid I would put a little milk and a lot of brown sugar. My toppings are the same, but I have yet to master the stove. Microwave is still my friend.
Another movie weekend. Susann and I saw Mad Money and 27 Dresses, we had Sushi inbetween. Both excellent movies. As tempting as it is, don't believe the critics.
for that second chance
for a break that would make it okay
there's always one reason
to feel not good enough
and it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
oh beautiful release
memory seeps from my veins
let me be empty
and weightless and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight
Season 7 is here! And OTH has returned 4 years fast forward. This week's episode introduced me to the new artist: Kate Voegele
You show your emotion
And silence speaks louder than words
It's lucky I'm clever
Cause if I didn't know better
I'd believe only that which I'd heard
I saw two movies this weekend, both excellent: National Treasure: Book of Secrets & Juno. Weather is very winter like - I am secretly enjoying it. :-) This weekend I also watched season 1 of weeds, a little too vulgar, but addicting. Weeds is a combination of Sex in the City, Desperate Housewives and swearing of an R-rated movie.
And reaching out for human faith is
Is like a journey I just don't have a map for"
And you can barely drag your feet
The weight of the world is on your shoulders
I know what you need, bring it on home to me

Just in case you did not know: Applebees has a Loaded Baked Potato on their menu!
Come home
Cause I've been waiting for you
For so long
For so long
And right now there's a war between the vanities
But all i see is you and me
The fight for you is all I've ever known
So come home
Sam's appendix removal surgery on Monday went well! He arrived at the hospital at 1pm, rolled into surgery at 2pm, talked to the Doctor at 3:15pm and saw Sam in the recovery room at 4:30pm. He spent the night and I took him home at about 10:00am on Tuesday. Recovery is being spent in his favorite room: the command center.
Work is back in full swing after the holidays. Our unit is moving offices, Susann and I will be getting separate offices, it will take some getting used to after sharing an office since June.
Record highs this week. It was in the 70s yesterday.
Happy New Year everyone! After toying with the idea of using the blogging software, Mephisto, I ended up sticking with php, but finding a new template.

Sam and I rang in the new year in Berkeley Springs, WV with a bunch of friends in a 5 bedroom 5 bathroom cabin. Great time!

One of the many things I've noticed while living on the East Coast is the lack of country music fans. Where have all the country fans gone? There is only one station that plays country music in the No. VA area. Very sad.
I was counting on forever, now I'll never know
I can't even breathe
It's like I'm looking from a distance,
Standing in the background
Everybody's saying, he's not coming home now,
This can't be happening to me
This is just a dream
I haven't posted for almost a month. I just got back from the movie, Beowulf. Definitely a guy flick. My Thanksgiving travels started poorly: I made the mistake of flying out of DCA at noon. My noon flight did not depart until almost 6pm. Missing my connecting flight to GFK (of course), I had Northwest fly me into FAR - arriving around 11:30pm. I made it to my parent's house around 12:30 am CST - turning a 7 hr travel day into 14+ hrs. Time at home was grand - very relaxing! Family played a lot of solitaire and Pinochole. My sister and I also cooked the entire Thanksgiving meal, with the guidance of our Mother of course. It turned out great. On black friday, I watched my hockey team beat Duluth 8 to 3 - awesome game!
Sam the genius, figured out a way to convert mythtv recordings to play on Pitot. He also found a way to record DVDs to put on Pitot. These recordings saved me during my unexpected airport delay.
Sam is currently getting over some flu/infection and I am fighting a cold. Brothers and Sisters seems to be beating Grey's Anatomy. Everyone must go watch this hilarious iPhone 'Delay' Parody
When you love someone like that
When you give what you can't take back
When you love, (When you love)
With all your heart and soul
It's so hard to let it go
all these years gone by
now your askin me to listen
well then tell me bout everything
no lies we're loosin time
Cause this is a battle
and its your final last call
it was a trial, you made a mistake, we know
but why arent you sorry, why arent you sorry, why?
this can be better, you used to be happy, try!
You've got them on your side
and they wont change their minds
now its over
and im feelin like we've missed out on everything
i just hope its worth the fight
Cause this is a battle
and its your final last call
(Why'd you have to let it go)
it was a trial, you made a mistake, we know
(cant you see you hurt me soo)
but why arent you sorry, why arent you sorry, why?
things could be better, you can be happy, try!
The boycott of social networks is over. I opened a facebook account this week.
I don't want to fall another moment into your gravity.
Here I am and I stand so tall,
just the way I'm supposed to be.
But you're on to me and all over me.
Hi. Transformers was released on DVD today. So it's been several weeks...what have I been up to...the obvious-working Relatives were in the area for a week - went to the top of the Washington Monument for the first time. I went to Williamsburg for a week with the family. I watched a couple movies. I flew to MSP for a night. I read a book in two days. I flew to EWR for a night. I bought a puzzle. I am watching new and returning fall shows. And lastly, my allergies have returned with the fall season - I am enjoying the cooler weather.
The rain been comin' down.
Clouds of myst'ry pourin'
Confusion on the ground.
Good men through the ages,
Tryin' to find the sun;
And I wonder, Still I wonder,
Who'll stop the rain.
I went down Virginia,
Seekin' shelter from the storm.
Caught up in the fable,
I watched the tower grow.
Five year plans and new deals,
Wrapped in golden chains.
And I wonder, Still I wonder
Who'll stop the rain.
Heard the singers playin',
How we cheered for more.
The crowd had rushed together,
Tryin' to keep warm.
Still the rain kept pourin',
Fallin' on my ears.
And I wonder, Still I wonder
Who'll stop the rain.
is just a grain of sand
and what you've been out there
searching for forever is in your hands
And when you figure out
love is all that matters after all
it sure makes everything else
Seem so small.
I attended the best cookout of all time this weekend - in addition there were Smores!! Smores are awesome. Well that's all I got. Shout out to the iPod "phatty" nano.
Like the open seas and shores
Wedded by the planet force
We've all been spoken for
