Hello.

Have no fear, I am here.  I apologize for my absence.  A lot of crazy/busy stuff has been happening.  Plus, I’ve been putting off updating the site because WordPress 2.9.2 is available and I’ve been meaning to upgrade my server (still have not). I shall recap for the strangers that read my blog =)

March: I participated in Spring Break, yes Spring Break.  My God sister Maia and her friend Stephanie traveled to DC for a week.  First time to the National Arboretum and going to the American History museum since it’s remodeling.  I got a new computer – named wolf – running Arch Linux w/KDE.  Sam and I built it.

April: Cherry Blossoms! My favorite time of DC – minus the allergies.  I witnessed a falcon eating a duck.

May: I flew home home for a week.  Quality Family & friend time!

I’ve knitted two market bags w/flowers – one for me, one for Susann.  I plan on attending the Sunday West End Market as often as possible – so far I have only gone once.

Voted for Lee and glad he won American Idol, tho I stopped watching after Didi got booted.  Grey’s season finale…SERIOUSLY!??!?!…FNL has returned on NBC!   I love it.  Lie to Me on Fox is returning this month! Yay!

Present: I participated in my first community yard sale on Saturday.  I made $92.75!  Awesome!  Definitely worth the time and effort.  I got burned on my shoulders and neck.  We were outside from 7am – 11:30am.

Snowtorious B.I.G. day 2

sleddingFirst things first, we shoveled out the canoe right when we awoke at 10:30am.  We had cinnamon rolls again and coffee as we lounged.

Around 3pm we hiked to the crown royal hill and went sledding with our Home Depot large plastic tub turned sled.  We had a blast.  Sam sled down once.  I sled down about 6 times.  We walked into the tree area and took pics – we had the point and shoot and the new SLR camera with us.  The sled broke on the last run =(  I am tempted to go buy another because the hill is awesome, takes me back to my childhood.

Sam shoveled again.  The snow plow got stuck for an hour by our place. Our place is in a cove – where the lot is a oval – the plow has no where to put the snow when it turns corners.

We were invited to our friends place for dinner.  They made salad, turkey meatloaf and apple crisp.  Delicious! We watched the end of Untraceable and than watched Zombieland.  It was funny.

We shoveled again.  Than took the canoe for a drive out of our neighborhood, on to Van Dorn Street, where we got some gas and filled the tires in Kingstowne.

Total snowfall at our house from Snowtorious = 21 inches!

Please enjoy the film reel of one of my successful sled rides where I did not flip.

footnote: snowpocalypse was renamed to Snowtorious B.I.G

more snow

We had a lazy day on Saturday – it snowed all day – and instead of going outside and making snow angels, we stayed in.  =( The canoe is white, not from the snow:

I just folded a load of colors – I like colored socks.

I hung out in Woodbridge on Sunday.  I got a haircut. Went to JoAnn Fabrics – first time visiting a JoAnn’s on the east coast.  The yarn selection is much better than Michael’s.  I also swung by Paint This to pick up finished masterpieces – spent two days there this month – may want to take a break – painting products and studio fees add up =)

Movies: saw Avatar in IMAX 3D twice. Great movie! This past weekend we watched (500) Days of Summer.  I liked it.

For dinner I had a pizza bagel.  Watched Life Unexpected – I love the show!  Bedtime =)

Plates Plates Plates

I bought new plates! I found these adorable leaf plates at Home Goods in Kingstowne.  I love them – perfect fall colors – though I may use them all year round =)
Saw Inglourious Basterds on Saturday night – 10:30pm showing – note: this is a 2.5 hour movie!  It was an alright flick – Brad Pitt did an excellent job!  A Quentin Tarantino movie = a lot of “gross” scenes.
Paid a visit to the newly opened Plato’s Closet in Chantilly.  I brought 4 boxes of “stuff” to sell – came home with 4 boxes of “stuff” to sell.  They are very picky – don’t think I will go back.
In closing to return to my first subject – Fall is here – wonderful 73 degrees today and bad allergy season is among us.
Dinner: Tuscan Linguine from Noodles & Co. + Robeks for dessert (Outrageous Raspberry)

Inauguration Opening Concert

Three of us hopped on the Van Dorn metro a little after 11am – smooth sailing to Farragut West metro. I got a small white chocolate mocha at Caribou Coffee.  We took pics of the stands outside the White House and the snipers on top of the Old Executive Building.  Lunch at Pot Belly’s.  (Limited menu – no pizza sub). They gave out free pins – “I witnessed history”.  We stopped by the FRB for a bathroom break and to get a view from the terrace.
A concert perimeter was set up from the Lincoln Memorial to the WWII Memorial.  We walked to Constitution and 19th – they just closed the security checkpoints minutes before we arrived.  We were kicking ourselves.  We walked around WWII memorial to Independence Avenue – but no way in.  We ended up on 17th street on the Washington Monument side by the trees watching the concert on the jumbotrons.
To avoid the mad rush to the metro after the concert was over, we walked to the Loews Georgetown theatre and watched Paul Blart Mall Cop.
