crocheting
I find it more difficult than knitting just because the loops are hard to find and the motions do not feel as smooth as it should. I started with a hat…it took me about 6 tries…next I made three catch-all-bowl from the one-skein wonders book. I’d like to make a cowl, but I am on an ebay hunt for a set of bamboo crochet hooks, the metal ones rub my index finger.

Exercise
I’m back to the world of exercise. This week I ran on the treadmill each day (4) at the fitness center at work. Day 2 really kicked my butt…otherwise the other 3 days were pretty good. My new balance tennis shoes were hurting my arch in my right foot after each run…so Sam and I went into Old Town today and I got new running shoes – asics.
My goal is to run 4 days a week.

painting
Hello. I wanted to share another past time I have picked up (thx Susann)…painting ceramics. This quaint little place in Old Town Alexandria – Paint This – has been our hangout on a few of our off Mondays. I highly recommend it! My most recent items:

Survived!
Aaauuuggghhhhhhhh!!!!!
I just survived my first skein knot ball nightmare. I unraveled a skein of yarn, thinking I could wrap it into a ball with two arms. Everyone told me to use a chair, but did I listen? No.
Last night, it was looking like this:

After two hours – I finally went to bed.
Today, victory was mine! I got it all untangled into a ball. I raised the ball of yarn up in the air for a victorious moment.

The post office man delivered my yarn ball winder today – if only I had waited a day. So I used my ball winder for the first time, turning my ball into a nice, organized pull from center ball. After a total of 3+ hours of a nightmare tangled mess, here it is:

My new large tote from Target – I love the dots. The top skeins on the right arrived today – Noro Daria multi – from Vintageknits

lens
My camera lens arrived today! The only phrase to use is: it’s awesome!

Knitting Knitting Knitting
This sums up what I have been up to in 2010 =) I joined ravelry.com (facebook for knitters) and joined a local knitting group that meets at Wegmans in Fairfax.

I decided to spread my wings and rather than purling or knitting the entire project, I learned to read patterns (thx google) and made some arm warmers. ^see photo
I also learned to cable stitch (thx Meredith) last week. My next two big projects is crocheting a catch all bowl, pattern from the book One Skein Wonders (thx Annie) and knitting in a round to make arm warmers (pattern found on raverly).
The catch all bowl was made with Noro Daria Multi. This yarn was difficult to find – I fear she may not make it anymore, but luckily a vintage yarn website had some skeins left.
I went on a yarn spree today – shopping at the two local yarn shops in Old Town Alexandria – Knit Happens and Fibre Space

Lastly after discovering twisted skeins had to be wrapped into a ball before use, I found some goodies on knitpicks.com.
